Many diets are restrictive, taking away foods you love or they can be really time-consuming, having you weigh and measure ingredients. Some are totally unrealistic and unlivable with in the long-term, replacing entire meals with shakes and watery soups. At the very lowest ebb of dieting, some will even try those little pills that prevent the body from absorbing a percentage of dietary fat by sending it straight out their bottom, with little notice and like treacle! Even when you find a diet that isn’t so bad, with some foods you like, why is it so hard to stick to it and why do you always feel like you’re ‘on a diet’? Aly says, “I was a busy mum of three with a demanding full time career. With trying to keep control of a hectic job and active family, I hadn’t really noticed the gradual increase in my bodyweight or the slow deterioration of my health until it had gotten out-of-hand. I found clothes shopping really stressful, I never felt good in anything and my self-confidence became really low. My wardrobe morphed into a sea of black and purple and I began to avoid social occasions where possible. With low energy levels, headaches, joint and back pains, illnesses and colds that could last for weeks, I eventually realised enough was enough. Setting off on the usual ‘Fat Clubs’ experience, joining gyms, buying home exercise equipment, faddy diets and even episodes of not eating, I soon realised these methods were all short-term fixes that couldn’t possibly last me for life, so I threw in the towel. However, not by giving up! I took a complete career change, signed up for and qualified with University Post Graduate studies in Human Nutrition, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Weight Management and set about building a slimming, life-lasting, easy, effortless and enjoyable eating and activity programme based around simple Psychology and Physiology. Dropping 5 dress sizes in 6 months and helping many, many friends, family, neighbours and other willing participants on a similar path, I launched the happy weigh officially in August 2010 and have continued with an 100% success rate for all those joining my programme to be slimmer, healthier and happier for life!”
